TV loses out to Internet in new BT Yahoo! Broadband survey - Brief Article

INTERNET BUSINESS NEWS-(C)1995-2003 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

Broadband provider BT Yahoo! Broadband has completed a survey showing that more time is being spent on the Internet than watching TV.

The results found that the average person spends 3.5 hours per day on the Internet while they watch TV for just 2.8 hours. Similarly, 44% of all those questioned believed that the Internet provided better news and entertainment.

Other results revealed that 92% of respondents said that they most liked being able to find information on the Internet while 91% personalise their Internet experience by saving favourites.

The survey was carried out by providing questionnaires to 500 UK homes.

Yahoo is teaming up with Samsung, Toshiba and LG to bring the internet to a new range of television sets. Yahoo has developed what it calls the Yahoo Widget Engine, which displays a series of internet options in a scrolling bar across the base of the television screen.
