In an unprecedented programming move, Court TV(R) Chairman and CEO Henry Schleiff announced that the network will pre-empt its regularly scheduled primetime programming to offer non-stop coverage of the highly anticipated closing arguments in the Scott Peterson murder trial, beginning Monday, November 1. Court TV - The Investigation Channel(TM), will provide daily live coverage of the trial from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm ET, continuing for the duration of both sides' final presentations. Primetime specials, as well as all daytime programs, will focus exclusively on Peterson under the banner, "The Scott Peterson Trial, The Final Argument." In addition, when a verdict is reached, Court TV will go inside the courtroom for the live reading. Peterson is accused of murdering his pregnant wife Laci and their unborn child in Modesto, CA in December 2002. If convicted, Peterson could face the death penalty, or a sentence of life in prison.
In addition to hosting their daily shows live from Redwood City, both Court TV's respected anchors Catherine Crier and Nancy Grace will present special primetime reports. From 6:00-8:00 pm ET, Nancy Grace will take calls from viewers eager to ask questions or weigh in with comments on the closing arguments. Rounding out the block, from 8:00 pm-9:00 pm ET, Catherine Crier -- who has revealed scores of exclusive documents on her daily program -- will discuss compelling evidence that the jury was not permitted to hear during the trial.
Court TV - The Investigation Channel(TM) is the leader in the investigation genre, providing a window on the American system of justice through distinctive programming that both informs and entertains. Court TV telecasts trials by day and high-profile original programs like Forensic Files(R), Psychic Detectives(TM), Masterminds(TM) and Impossible Heists(TM) in primetime.
