Court TV Finds in Favor of SmartVideo For MobileKimberly Speight, Reuters
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter)—Court TV viewers now will have more access to their favorite legal programming through a new partnership with mobile video provider SmartVideo.
The cable network's deal with SmartVideo—which provides live, full-motion TV to cellular phones—will see four kinds of content delivered to four different channels in a subscriber-based service. Viewers will have access to Court TV News' content live from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and the network's Seriously Entertaining primetime programming through video-on-demand. Subscribers also will have access to online content, including Web clips and trial coverage, and the live network feed directly from the satellite.
Court TV said the deal, which marks its first foray into the mobile video market, is part of its strategy to attract younger viewers, one of the goals of its recent rebranding initiative. (The network recently split into two separate entities: Court TV News in the daytime and Court TV: Seriously Entertaining in primetime.)
The service can be viewed on any Smartphone or other device using Microsoft Windows Mobile OS, independent of carrier.
