Hicks, Muse, Tate and Furst - Hicks, Muse, Tate and Furst Equity Fund III purchases 7 LIN TV Corp television stationsHicks, Muse, Tate & Furst closed last week on $2 billion purchase of 7 LIN TV Corp. TV stations, along with 4 local marketing agreements (LMAs). Under Hicks, Muse ownership, LIN will retain its name, Providence hq and management team headed by Pres.-CEO Gary Chapman. Also closing was creating of partnership of NBC (80%) mid LIN (20%), with LIN contributing KXAS-TV Ft. Worth-Dallas, NBC KNSD San Diego (with NBC to manage both). Douglas Adams will remain pres.-gen. mgr. of KXAS-TV. Under deal, NBC will lend LIN $815 million. LIN stations acquired by Hicks, Muse: WISH-TV Indianapolis, WTNH-TV New Haven, WAVY-TV Portsmouth-Norfolk-Newport News, WIVB-TV Buffalo, WANE-TV Ft. Wayne, WAND Decatur, KXAN-TV Austin, Tex.; LMAs - WBNE New Haven, WVBT Virginia Beach, KNVA Austin, KXTX-TV Dallas-Ft. Worth. AT&T owned 45% of LIN and received $745 million for its stake.
