WeatheRate announces certified TV stations Forecasting watchdog WeatheRate certified the following TV stations as the most accurate in their markets for the period September 1,2003 through February 29, 2004: WKYC: Cleveland, OH (NBC); WHNS: Greenville, SC (FOX); WXIN: Indianapolis, IN (FOX); KSHB: Kansas City, MO (NBC); WTVF: Nashville, TN (CBS); KPHO: Phoenix, AZ (CBS) and KSDK: St. Louis, MO (NBC). The Arizona-based company crowns local meteorologists across the country as the most accurate in their TV markets by comparing forecasts with actual conditions. WeatheRate verifies high and low temperatures, sky cover, precipitation, snow accumulation, wind and fog. Accuracy in forecasting severe weather and timing of precipitation are also considered.
Editor's Note:
The cities listed share one thing in common. Snow isn't likely to fall in Phoenix, Arizona, Greenville, South Carolina or St. Louis, Missouri? Tough job being a weather forecaster in Phoenix. Why not try rating the forecasters in real winter cities like Minneapolis, Buffalo or Denver? Ed.
