1970s TV shows - What's Hot - new on home video - Brief Article The nostalgia craze for 1970s TV shows is in full swing this summer at movie theaters, with film versions of "Charlie's Angels" and "The Hulk," and now it's hitting DVD. Studios are bringing out DVD boxed sets of shows that weren't huge hits in their era but still resonate with viewers.
Universal Studios Home Video will release the first and only year of "Battlestar Gallactica" on Oct. 21 in a six-disc set for $119.95. The 1978 series was a big hit but lasted only one season because of high production costs.
Paramount Home Entertainment will release the mini-series "Shogun" on Sept. 23 in a five-disc box set for $89.99.
And Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment will release the first season of the 1970s comedy "Soap" on Sept. 16. The show that gave Billy Crystal his start will be released on a three-disc set for $29.95.
