Nokia phone also double as video camera TORONTO -- Nokia has announced the Canadian availability of its 6620 mobile phone, a handset loaded with multimedia features. The tri-band (850/1800/1900 MHz) Nokia 6620 operates in Canada on the Rogers Wireless GSM/GPRS/EDGE network.
Users can get high-speed data transfer and global roaming capabilities around the world, according to the vendor. With the Nokia 6620, customers can download music clips--even full MP3s--and listen to them with the built-in Real Player.
As a camcorder that's always in your pocket, the Nokia 6620 video phone lets customers shoot, play, edit and add text and voice overs to recorded video clips. The phone has a 208 by 176 pixel screen. With an extended memory, customers can record videos of up to 10 minutes, Nokia said.
In addition to the video capabilities, the Nokia 6620 also offers a wide range of multimedia features that give users a variety of ways to capture and share content. Through Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language (SMIL) technology, multimedia messages customers can build images, sounds and text to be built into a single multimedia message. An integrated image uploader allows pictures to be sent directly to Internet-based photo services, where they can be stored, sorted, shared and made into prints. Additionally, images can easily be printed with the use of a compatible Bluetooth-enabled printer.
The Nokia 6620 also comes with integrated Real Player. With the Rogers Wireless EDGE network, customers can access Real formatted video content and new 3GPP content designed specifically for mobile devices.
The device supports a number of business applications and has PDA functionality that can be synchronized over the air through technologies such as Bluetooth. It also supports mobile e-mail and instant messaging and can give users improved access to corporate online information sources such as intranet sites.
