Optio43O is precise, powerful and compact - New products/peripherals - digital zoom camera from Pentax - Product Announcement MISSISSAUGA, Ont. -- Asahi Optical Co. Ltd. and Pentax Canada Inc. have released the Optio43O.
The digital camera has a stainless steel exterior, a 4.0 megapixel (effective pixels) and an optical 3x zoom lens. The camera weighs 7.2 ounces and measures 3.6 inches by 2.3 inches by 1.2 inches. The ultra-zoom lens, CPU, ASIC and memory chip were all integrated into a multi chip module.
The 3x zoom lens of the Optio43O is equivalent to 37.5 to 112.5mm in 35mm format. The lens combines tow dual-sided aspherical elements and employs a lens barrel retraction mechanism. Accuracy at the recording stage is achieved with a 4.0 megapixel and advanced image processing technology.
Shooting and playback modes include standard, night scene, metered manual, movie, multi exposure. DPOF protection settings can be adjusted and imaged can be deleted with the direct key option.
Photographic data can be transmitted to the PC by connecting a USB cable to the USB port of the Optio43O. System requirements of the PC are: Windows 98/2000 Professional/Me or Mac 05 8.6 or higher.
The 1.6 LCD monitor has a brightness setting so that is can be adjusted to suite the viewing conditions. The viewfinder offers actual image zoom. The display can also be used to display nine recorded imaged simultaneously in playback mode. The screen is also capable of displaying images with 4x magnification in playback mode.
Movie clips can be created up to 30 seconds in length at 15 frames per second with a resolution of 320 by 240 pixels. The clips are recorded in AVI format.
The Optio43O has the ACDSee software included which enables the user to view pictures, convert graphics and share images. It also offers thumbnail display and album creation. ACDSee can also be displayed Exif data. The camera is also Compact Flash compatible. Each standard 16MB CompactFlash card can store about five images (recording pixels: 2,240 by 1,680 quality level: best) or about 200 images (recording pixels: 640 by 480, quality level: good). The camera can be connected to a YV via video cable. It can also be set to display a slide show and can be used in combination with a wide-screen TV or an LCD projector. The Optio43O can be powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery or by an optional AC adapter.
