Nikon's scene-optimized Digital Vari-Program modes simplify the photographic process. Users can select one of the seven automated modes from the mode dial to optimize settings and ISO-equivalent sensitivity for what it says are great results with the intended shot.
The new "child" mode makes it easier to take memorable pictures of children, with the right amount of vivid colour, says Nikon. Full manual control is also available, allowing more advanced photographers all the creative freedom they desire, while making it possible for any photographer to experiment and hone their photographic skills.
The camera features a 6.1 effective megapixel Nikon DX Format CCD image sensor and advanced image processing engine. Continuous shooting at 2.5 frames per second can be maintained for a burst of up to 137 shots.
It also features shutter speeds ranging from 30 to 1/4,000 second and a high-speed flash sync speed of up to 1/500 second. AUTO ISO maximizes available light by automatically setting ISO-equivalent sensitivity across the available range of 200 to 1600, although users can always opt to set the sensitivity manually for full personal control.
