Canon and Sony Showcase FOCUS Enhancements' Industry-Leading FireStore DTE Digital Disk Recorders at DV Expo
DV EXPO -- FOCUS Enhancements Inc. (NASDAQ: FCSE), a worldwide leader in video production and conversion technology,
today announced that its popular FireStore family of Direct To Edit(TM)
(DTE) disk recorders will be highlighted in several video production
workflow demonstrations by prominent industry leaders including Canon and
Sony at DV Expo East in New York. The full FireStore line-up will also be
on display in FOCUS Enhancements' booth, number 526, in the Jacob Javits
Convention Center Hall 1-B, July 19 - 21, 2005.
When combined with DV25 or HDV based camcorders, FOCUS Enhancements'
industry standard DTE recorders enable users to record SD or HD content
directly to disk in native NLE file formats. When finished, users simply
connect FireStore to their computer to instantly edit in the timeline
without having to first capture, transfer, or convert their video --
maintaining the chosen native NLE file format throughout the entire
production process. The unique FireStore camera-mount and portable models
are the only truly portable DTE recorders available today for
time-sensitive, in-the-field applications including independent films,
sports, news, and live events.
"DV Expo brings together innovative products from leading manufacturers to
video professionals at every level of the production workflow," said Matt
McEwan, product manager, video production, at FOCUS Enhancements.
"FireStore continues to dominate in the tapeless acquisition market because
it provides a high performance, ultra portable, and reliable solution for
direct-to-disk and tape-to-disk back-up video applications. By aligning
with industry leaders such as Canon and Sony, video professionals will have
access to the best productivity tools on the market to significantly reduce
production time from capture and editing to distribution."
The FireStore family will be on display as part of the following
demonstrations:
-- Canon - The FS-4/FS-4Pro and Canon XL2 DV camcorder demonstrate DV
tapeless acquisition from the field to the studio. Hall 1-B, Booth #301
-- FOCUS Enhancements - The recently announced DR-HD100 is designed
specifically for use with the much-anticipated JVC GY-HD100 HD camcorder
while the FS-4 HD/FS-4Pro HD will be demonstrated to work with the popular
Sony HVR-Z1U HDV camcorder. Both solutions will display tapeless high
definition acquisition from the field to the editing suite. Hall 1-B, Booth
#526. Panasonic's enhanced version of FOCUS Enhancements' industry leading
file conversion software, FireStore DV File Converter Pro, adds MXF P2
support for Panasonic's broadcast DVCPRO P2 products, which will also be on
display.
-- Sony - The FS-4/FS-4Pro is partnered with Sony's new HVR-Z1U to
demonstrate real-time tapeless acquisition of standard definition as well
as high-definition (HD). Hall 1-B, Booth #313
FOCUS Enhancements will also demonstrate the entire FireStore family in its
booth. The FireStore FS-2 brings DTE DV disk recording technology to the
studio, mobile van, or installation. With a full complement of analog and
digital inputs/outputs, FS-2 is ideal for tape deck replacement,
film-to-disk transfer, presentations, and outside broadcast applications.
FireStore FS-3 brings DTE disk recording performance to the field by
mounting directly to full size DV camcorders. The FS-3 is ideal for ENG,
EFP, videography, and other portable applications.
The new FireStore FS-4, FS-4Pro, FS-4 HD, and FS-4Pro HD, DTE recorders are
the first disk-based recorders for DV and HD hand held camcorders. The FS-4
combines a small, rugged, shock-proof chassis with full DTE technology
performance, converting any IEEE-1394 (FireWire, iLink) drive into a high
performance digital disk recorder/player.
